"Tumbaco Lector Academy" is not only a warm, physical environment, but also represents the meeting point where interest converges with meeting people, sharing experiences, enjoying nature and learning a language in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Location We are located in the Valley of Tumbaco, 2.5 km from Interoceanica Avenue and 80 meters from the Pachamama High School, in "La Casa de Rafa." We enjoy the privilege of finding ourselves at the foot of the volcano Ilalo, which is inactive and has an altitude of 3169 meters above sea level.

How to get there?

If you stay in Quito you can take the green bus in Rio Coca Avenue that says: “Tumbaco”, “Pifo”, “Puembo”, ”Yaruqui” or “El Quinche”. Once you are in Tumbaco, you should get off the bus at BANCO DEL PICHINCHA and there, take the bus SOTRANOR “Rumihuayco”. Get off at the last station where you see the soccer field and from here you can walk to the school.

If you stay in Cumbaya you can take the green bus “Tumbaco” in front of the Supermaxi of Villa Cumbaya that says: “Tumbaco”, “Pifo”, “Puembo”, “Yaruqui”, or “El Quinche”. Once you are in Tumbaco, you should get off the bus at BANCO DEL PICHINCHA and there, take the bus SOTRANOR “Rumihuayco”. Get off at the last station where you see the soccer field and from here you can walk to the school.

If you stay in Tumbaco you have various options, take the bus SOTRANOR “Rumihuayco” in the city center of Tumbaco in Gonzalo Pizarro street, (0,25 USD), or take a taxi (2,50 USD), or go by bicycle or walk (for free!)

Infrastructure

The house is a spacious building in the shape of a doughnut, made of wood, rustic style with lots of natural light and a fireplace. It has everything you need to enjoy our activities in peace and comfort. In the center is a cozy courtyard, whose main attractions are the large windows that allow you to enjoy the interior of the house and a very blue sky during summer days. The exterior consists of a beautiful terrace that surrounds the house; it provides you with a view of the valley and allows you to experience a sense of freedom. Also there are places outdoors: The barbecue, the front garden, the playground, the rear garden and parking for 40 cars.

The cave

Besides the house offers a mystic place call “The Cave”. A teacher is in charge of this place and she will help you to develop the listening skills. Due to the limitation of the physical language, this is a space created for middle and advance Spanish students. This work is dug to 9 meters below ground and is connected by tunnels to the main house. It is a place full of magic.
